A definition of overwhelmed is “to give too much of a thing“. When we truly desire to live a life that is fulfilled in all areas, we are destined to have more to do than we have the time, energy, ability or help to accomplish or complete. This reality of feeling overwhelmed many times CAN be a blessing and the manifestation of what we have worked so hard to accomplish.
In my favorite book, it says that we have so much power and strength that “our cup will run over”. It also says that we will receive blessings that we will not have enough room to receive.”
When a cup is overflowing that means it has been filled and there is more “substance” given than can be held. We get frustrated with being overwhelmed but many times we are experiencing what we’ve worked so hard to obtain. We feel like the overflow is a burden, when we are receving exceedingly and abundantly more than we asked for.
Being overwhelmed means you have EVERYTHING you need and now you are overflowing with everything you want.
I know you are thinking, so what about when I am overwhelmed with challenges, struggles, health issues, and other concerns that don’t seem to be very positive? The answer is as simple as it is complex. God’s plan for our life is perfect and the struggles are never to defeat us but to make us stronger and understand even more our true power.
As a woman of faith, I open myself up to receive the positive when things are good and “grow” through the negative when things are challenging, because I believe the bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11 that says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Once we let go of our limited thinking, our limited possibilities, and our limited abilities and truly surrender to God’s plan for our lives we will find peace living in the overflow and joy in the abundance of being overwhelmed.
How do you handle the feeling of being overwhelmed. Have you ever considered it a blessing or just a burden? I would love to hear your comments below.
