Do You Believe There is a Plan for Your Life?

Do You Believe There is a Plan for Your Life?

Exponential Living Principle 6 – Happy Is A Choice, Joy Is a Lifestyle

There was a time when after many years of disappointment, my faith was wavering and I was struggling to believe. I would hear the minister preach about God’s love and abundance, and I’d say “Amen” and “Hallelujah” with my mouth, but in my heart I was saying, “Yeah, whatever. God isn’t doing any of that for me.”

Honestly, have you ever felt that way?

If so, I completely understand the feeling!

But as I would learn over time as I began to appreciate what God had done for me, God is always moving in our favor and working out His plan for our life, it’s just usually not on our timeline.

Even in my times of struggle and weariness, when I stopped and got still, I realized God was answering my prayers all along. My marriage, my daughters, my health, my wisdom – all answers to the situations and questions I had during my seasons of wavering faith.

The greatest gift you can give yourself as you embrace Exponential Living is to accept that you are not running the show. You are not COO of the universe. As grand as your plans for yourself are, there is an even greater plan for you. And that plan unfolds in its correct time and season.

It really does.

To know this is to lay down a heavy burden.

I now feel a tremendous sense of lightness from knowing that it’s not all on me to make my life work out. Thank God for that. In fact, it’s when you surrender control that all the pieces come together—provided that surrender is rooted in faith, faith that there’s a purpose for our life that we can’t fully see with our rational minds.

Whether you practice a spiritual belief or not, faith, coupled with consistent execution, is the only way to allow for the true plan for your life to emerge. Even the hardest-working high achiever can attest to having may things happen in their life that their hard work didn’t directly bring about.

When you allow the plan for your life to unfold, it happens in the best and most efficient way possible for you.

Second-guessing that plan or thinking that you know better only makes it take longer and creates more pain and difficulty. The best thing you can do is just keep making efforts to grow, keep praying, and allow what happens to happen. God does answer prayers, but we need to have the faith to allow those answers to play out according to God’s plan, not ours.
